“The Holiday” Gets an LGBTQ Twist in “The Holiday Exchange” Trailer Starring Taylor Frey and Rick Cosnett (Exclusive)
Kyle Richards stars as the mother of Frey's character
A Christmas movie favorite is about to get an LGBTQ twist.
Taylor Frey, Rick Cosnett and Kyle Richards star in The Holiday Exchange, which follows a single man who swaps houses with another, much like Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet did in 2006's The Holiday.
In the exclusive trailer for the new movie — which premieres Oct. 1 on Peacock and Prime Video — Hollywood-based Wilde (Frey) confronts his boyfriend Sean for claiming to go on a writer's retreat and instead visiting his ex.
"I will end Sean for this," Wilde's mom Lola (Richards) says.
But the whole thing makes Wilde want to get out of town, so he visits a vacation rental and eyes an adorable cottage in a snowy European town called Brilfax. It's a "Brilliant Brilfax Escape," according to the site, and for rent by Oliver (Cosnett).
Oliver, meanwhile, heads to Wilde's home in Los Angeles. "This is so gorgeous!" he declares.
Not surprisingly, romance brews on both sides of the globe as the holiday draws near.
"When we fall down, we get right back up again. And that goes for love just as it did when you were a little boy riding your bike," Lola tells Wilde. "Should we drink?"
"Let's drink, yeah," Wilde responds.
The movie's official logline reads: "Wilde (Frey) has just sold his company, but facing the holidays as a single man, he decides to swap houses on an LGBTQ app with handsome, Brilfax-bred Oliver (Cosnett). In their efforts to escape their woes, each end up meeting respective handsome locals in the forms of Julius (Samer Salem) and Henry (Daniel Garcia), who will spice up their visits. In the process, romance ignites in both sunny L.A. and a charming, snowy town called Brilfax."
The movie is written by Frey and directed by Jake Helgren, who helmed last year's spicy Lifetime movie A Cowboy Christmas Romance. Helgren, Frey and Frey's husband, Kyle Dean Massey, are producers.
