Hoda Kotb's Impromptu On-Air Move Shocks 'Today' Show Fan
Hoda Kotb recently surprised one fan when she made an unexpected request while filming the Today show.
On the Tuesday, Nov. 12 episode, the longtime broadcaster and co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Craig Melvin reported live from the Plaza, meeting nearby fans who often gather around.
While mentioning Veteran's Day 2024—which was Monday, Nov. 11—the 60-year-old spotted a woman in the crowd who held a sign that read, "I sang the anthem at the Lincoln Centre for Vets Day" and approached her with a bold ask to publicly use her vocals once again.

"Before we get to weather, there's someone here that we have to meet," Hoda said as she walked up to veteran Felita LaRock.
"Would you sing something for us here today?" Kotb asked, to which LaRock obliged, "Yes! Just for you, Hoda."
She then burst into a spirited rendition of 1978's "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, a fitting choice for the occasion.
"Way to go, girl. You crushed it!" Hoda emphatically reacted to the impromptu performance of the tune, before showing appreciation with, "Thank you so much and thank you for your service!"

In September, the mom of two announced that she would step down from her position on the Today show in January 2025. "I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new," she said at the time.
Fans are sure to miss Kotb's positive disposition and spirited nature, but here's to hoping her replacement is just as well-received by loyal viewers of the TV program!
