Today show anchor Hoda Kotb has one of the highest profile jobs in television, but there's one small-screen role that she's still bummed about not landing.

Ten years ago, Kotb, 59, appeared in two episodes of Law & Order: SVU but didn’t score a role she wanted.

"I wanted to play someone who died," the anchor told Jenna Bush Hager on the July 11 episode of Today. "They said no.”

Kotb told her co-anchor, 42, that she played a TV anchor in season 16's third episode, “Producer's Backend.” In the story, she reports on a young teen star who gets into a car accident after escaping rehab.

"I think I played a journalist who was interviewing somebody who might have been guilty of something," Kotb, who didn't remember the exact plot, said, adding, "I think that’s what I did.”

“But anyway, it was really fun," she concluded.

Kotb has appeared in other television and film projects, often playing herself, beginning with a 2009 episode of Lipstick Jungle.

Her acting career came up on Today as Bush Hager's acting debut in Hallmark Channel’s upcoming Christmas movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story was announced on Thursday.

As they read through the various titles, Kotb exclaimed, "I was in Sharknado twice!"

The TV anchor has also made appearances in 30 Rock, Nashville, Girlfriends Guide to Divorce, The Other Two, Girls5Eva and Younger.

Earlier this year, she appeared alongside co-anchor Savannah Guthrie in Curb Your Enthusiasm's series penultimate episode, "Ken/Kendra." Prior to that, Kotb briefly appeared in Jennifer Lopez's 2022 romantic comedy, Marry Me.

Bush Hager will make her acting debut alongside Tyler HynesHunter King and Ed Begley Jr. in Holiday Touchdown. The movie follows one Chiefs superfan, Alana (King), who falls in love with Derrick (Hynes), the team's director of fan engagement.

The production was inspired by the real-life love story between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Filming begins this month in Kansas City, Mo., and the Chiefs' home field, Arrowhead Stadium.
