Hinge has revealed the surprising prompt that gets people first dates

Some of us have found this prompt traumatic, some of us have scored first dates.

Dating app Hinge has released its dating-wrapped data for the year, announcing the most successful prompts that landed users a first date — and the number one thing that led to many first dates may actually shock you and I don't say that lightly.

While you may think a lack of fish photos, a witty bio, or a photo without numerous other people in it with you could give you a better chance at getting a first date, Hinge revealed the one tactic users have been using this year to secure face-to-face time and I guess it's time we all up our game.

Drum roll, please...

In surprising and horrifying news for many, Hinge revealed that users using voice prompts were 66% more likely to go on a date.

If you're anything like me, that statistic may have filled you with horror flashbacks of hitting play on many men's voice prompts of them saying 'proof I have musical talent' then just randomly screaming or badly playing guitar down the phone.

But I guess some people are out there taking it seriously.

Hinge also stated that conversations with Voice Notes were 48% more likely to lead to a date. So good news for guys with the bios "not after a pen pal" — enjoy my five rambling voice memos in a row!

The other successful dating prompts of 2023 were curating your About Me section using prompts like "my simple pleasures" (not using voice prompts) or "dating me is like..." (insufferably painful according to my ex).

Hinge also revealed that getting more personal was a big hit for 2023 — and no, we're not talking about downing a tequila shot at a work Christmas party and then opening up about your childhood trauma. Users putting down things like their love languages and specifying their type also reportedly found dates easier.

Prompts included "I'm looking for" (literally anyone without a fish photo) and "All I ask is that you" (do not play 'Wonderwall' down the phone to me).

So if you're looking to revamp your dating life in 2024, it may be time to face your fears: send that Voice Prompt out, bby! But maybe use your actual voice, rather than playing a Chewbacca noise down the phone like some guy I once stumbled across did.
