Here's Everything We Know About "Freakier Friday" So Far
If you grew up during the late '90s/early 2000s, then Freaky Friday definitely played a huge impact on the person you are today.
Like, it's truly a perfect movie, and very few movies have been able to recreate the magic of Jamie Lee Curtis + Lindsay Lohan + an iconic fictional pop punk band.
And now, over two decades later, we're getting a sequel!!! There's another movie currently in the works, and it's, like, really happening, guys!
So, here's everything we know about the new movie so far:
1.It's called Freakier Friday and will be released in theaters in 2025.
2.Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are both starring in the film, reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman from the first movie.
3.Mark Harmon (Ryan), Chad Michael Murray (Jake), Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie), Haley Hudson (Peg), Lucille Soong (Pei-Pei's mom), Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Bates), and Rosalind Chao (Pei-Pei) are also confirmed to reprise their roles from the 2003 movie.

6.Jordan Weiss wrote the movie's script. She previously created the series Dollface.
7.Lindsay and Jamie have been talking about doing a sequel together for years. In 2022, Jamie revealed that she pitched Disney her idea for the movie. “Let me be the grandma! Let me be the old grandma who switches places. So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon," she said. "And simply, I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I wanna be a helicopter parent in today’s world, as an old lady."
8.The sequel's script was completed in May 2023, before the writers' strike, and Anna's pop punk band Pink Slip is involved in the film. "A writer came up with the most brilliant idea. It uses music and the band in a great way," said producer Andrew Gunn.
9.The movie takes place years after the original film. This time around, Anna has a daughter of her own and is gaining a stepdaughter. As she and Tess navigate the challenges of combining the families, they realize that "lightning might indeed strike twice."
10.During the casting process, Entertainment Tonight reported that the film's audition material suggested that Anna and Tess would swap with Harper and Lily, Anna's daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter.

The report read, "Entertainment Weekly viewed the audition sides (including eight script pages) sent to prospective stars, which state 'this is a "body swap" scene,' and that 'Harper should channel "Anna" (Lindsay Lohan) and Lily should channel "Tess" (Jamie Lee Curtis).'"
11.Harper is described as "a teen surfer with California vibes with a sharp sense of humor [who's] in a bit of a mood these days because her longtime single mom is set to marry British restaurateur Eric Davies." And Lily is described as "sharp-tongued." The audition sides also said, "Harper and Lily do not see eye to eye. Harper would like to see things go her way and use her intelligence to stop this marriage from ever happening."
12.And also, according to the audition sides, Anna is planning on moving to London with her new husband, but Tess is concerned about it.
13.Finally, the movie entered production in LA in June 2024 and is almost finished. Lindsay and Jamie, who have both posted photos from their last days on set, say filming for the movie wraps this week.
That's all for now! But rest assured we'll be sure to keep you updated as more information comes out.
