Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford defend the homestead in new teaser trailer for “1923” season 2
Brandon Sklenar, Julia Schlaepfer, Timothy Dalton, and the rest of the core cast are also returning to the Dutton ranch.
Grab your rifle, because it's about to be a land war.
Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are back for a second season of 1923. The Yellowstone prequel series wrapped up its first season in February 2023, leaving the fates of several members of the Dutton clan hanging in the balance. The new season 2 teaser trailer begins with some classic Taylor Sheridan screenwriting: "In Montana, there's a war over my family's land. And they're losing it."
The official description for 1923 season 2 reads: "In the second season of 1923, a cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob [Ford] and Cara [Mirren] back at Dutton ranch. With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer [Brandon Sklenar] embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra [Julia Schlaepfer] sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love."
Rejoining Mirren, Ford, Sklenar, and Schlaepfer back on the farm are Jerome Flynn, who plays the antagonistic shepherd Banner Creighton, Darren Mann as loyal grandson Jack Dutton, Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater, a daughter of the Crow people who's snatched from her home and placed in a sadistic residential school, as well as Michelle Randolph, Sebastian Roché, Timothy Dalton, Jennifer Carpenter, and more.

When we last caught up with the folk of 1923 on the season 1 finale, Teonna was fleeing south with Runs His Horse (Michael Spears) and Pete Plenty Clouds (Cole Brings Plenty, who died at just 27 in April), Banner's feud with Jacob reignited, Spencer is on dangerous legal ground after throwing Prince Arthur (Bruce Davison) overboard a ship, and Cara clutches a letter to Spencer imploring him to return home, "or there will be nothing left to fight for."
For those who need a refresher, the Paramount Network is currently airing the first seasons eight episodes in order week by week. Episode 102 is set to air on Sunday the 15th, with groups of two episodes a piece to follow for the next three Sundays.

1923 was created by Yellowstone showrunner/co-creator Taylor Sheridan not solely as a prequel to that wildly popular Western drama but as a sequel to the first Yellowstone spinoff, 1883. Isabel May provides the connective link between the prequels, starring as Elsa Dutton in 1883 and narrating 1923 as the same character. All of the Duttons found across the prequels are forebearers of the cowboy who started it all, Yellowstone's John Dutton III (Kevin Costner).
The extended Taylor Sheridan universe on Paramount+ also includes the series Landman, Lioness, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
The second season of 1923 premieres on February 23 on Paramount+.
