How Eminem Found His Fitness Groove

Slim Shady indeed.

The rapper opens up in the September issue of “Men’s Journal” about his addiction to prescription pills and his renewed commitment to physical fitness.

“In 2007, I overdosed on pills, and I went into the hospital,” the 42-year-old revealed. “I was close to 230 pounds.(104kg) I’m not sure how I got so big, but I have ideas. The coating on the Vicodin and the Valium I’d been taking for years leaves a hole in your stomach, so to avoid a stomach ache, I was constantly eating.”

It was in running that he found his new addiction.

“I became a f*cking hamster…I started getting OCD about the calories, making sure I burned 2,000 every day…I ran to the point where I started to get injured,” he says. “All the constant pounding from the running began to tear up my hip flexors.”

After losing so much weight, Eminem used a made-for-TV solution to stack on muscle.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t this.
