There are six episodes of Yellowstone left to watch.

After a nearly two-year hiatus, part 2 of Yellowstone season 5 will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 10 — and there are a lot of loose ends to tie up.

In season 5, part 1 of Paramount Network's hit series created by Taylor Sheridan, John Dutton (Kevin Coster) was elected Montana's governor and vowed to protect the land rather than allow outsiders to make their state a tourist destination. Meanwhile, Attorney General Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is hellbent on becoming governor and files articles of impeachment against his father.

Jamie's declaration of war against his own family enrages Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and she suggests to John that her brother visit the "train station." Meanwhile, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille) are trying to find a path forward after the loss of their son, John Jr.

Fans are anxious to discover how all the Yellowstone drama will resolve itself without Costner, who exited the series following part 1. While talking to The Hollywood Reporter in November 2024, director Christina Voros drove home the fact that "John Dutton is still central" to the story.

The road to reconciliation appears closed for Jamie and Beth, especially after she learns that he has a son.

The discovery infuriates Beth, considering Jamie is the reason why she can't have biological children. (In season 3, viewers learn that Jamie took Beth to an abortion clinic when they were teenagers, where the procedure was performed and he also agreed to a sterilization without her consent.)

"I'm going to take him from you. I'm going to rob you of fatherhood, Jamie," Beth said.

Beth's hatred for Jamie is further fueled when he sets out to impeach the Dutton patriarch on his quest to become the governor of Montana. When the siblings have a violent confrontation in season 5's latest episode, Beth declares war with Jamie, who is ready to see him go to the trainstation.

After getting arrested at a protest, Summer Higgins (Piper Perabo) is granted clemency by John and released from prison during Yellowstone season 5, part 1. Summer then moves into the Dutton residence, where she and John resume their romance.

The sight of them together sends Beth into a tailspin, but it only gets worse when Summer, who is vegan, criticizes the family's dinner of venison, duck and dove. Beth suggests the pair "take a walk," which results in an all-out brawl between the women.

Surprisingly, by the end of it, they reach an agreement to try and respect each other.

John's first act as governor in Yellowstone season 5 was signing an executive order to cease all state funding and revoke permits for Market Equities' Paradise Valley airport and ski resort projects.

Additionally, he used his power as governor to place his land in a conservation easement — effectively preventing Market Equities from carrying out their building plans or winning a potential lawsuit.

John also showed support for Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and those on the Indian reservation when he publicly opposed a federal pipeline project.

But his work in office becomes a bit complicated when suspicion arises about his Yellowstone cowboy's involvement with the deaths of state-protected wolves.

Over the course of several episodes, she successfully convinces Jamie to file articles of impeachment against his father, and together, they plot to have John and Beth killed.

A spinoff of Yellowstone titled 6666 has already been announced and will likely follow these characters as they work the West Texas cattle ranch.

Monica eventually convinces Kayce to keep his job and urges him to stop blaming himself for what happened to their family. She also decides to take John up on his offer to live permanently on the ranch — away from their home on the Indian reservation that reminds her of the life she and Kayce almost had.
