Hannah Berner Shares the ‘Honest’ and Hilarious Fashion Conversations She Has with Her Mom (Exclusive)
Berner and her mom, Lenore DeLeo-Berner, tell PEOPLE how they keep it real
Ask Hannah Berner for style advice, she’ll tell you how she really feels.
Chatting with PEOPLE at the American Heart Association (AHA) Red Dress Collection Concert, the Giggly Squad podcaster, accompanied by her mom, Lenore DiLeo-Berner, says you can’t go wrong with candor.
“If you love someone, be honest,” says Hannah, who also reveals how her outfit feedback sessions with her mom usually pan out. "She sends me photos, I say ‘no.’ I send her photos, she goes, ‘Ew, take it off’.”
Admittedly, the Summer House alum, 33, says she’s better at deciphering what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to fashion. And her mom agrees she has a solid understanding of what makes or breaks an outfit. “Hannah is actually a great stylist. She's always right.”
Hannah and Lenore, a jazz singer and retired principal, got glam together ahead of the annual AHA event hosted in New York City on Jan. 30. They took the red carpet by storm in coordinating red dresses, the former Bravo star in a plunging sequin red number and Lenore in a high-neck satiny design with bows trailing down the front.

The mother-daughter duo also dished their best Valentine’s Day tips ahead of the holiday.
Hannah, whose husband Des Bishop proposed to her on Feb. 14, 2021, says she hopes her man doubles up on the present-giving. “I don't know if he's going to get me a Valentine's Day and engagement gift. We'll see. I don't know what the rules are. I have to look that up,” she jokes.
But the pair agree that a box of chocolates are as sweet as things can get. “Life is about balance,” Hannah adds.

Before she can celebrate the romantic occassion, Hannah will be commemorating the second half of the Giggly Squad tour with her best friend and podcast co-host Paige DeSorbo, who recently brought PEOPLE backstage at the duo’s sold-out live shows at Radio City Musical Hall. The two will perform in Nashville on Feb. 13 with the leg continuing until the two release their book, How to Giggle: A Guide to Taking Life Less Seriously, in April.
While touring, Hannah and DeSorbo have been pulling out the stops and channeling their personal styles. But despite their closeness, the pals never borrow each other’s clothes (only if they’re in a pinch or have to resolve a wardrobe malfunction) and rarely get ready together.
"I think part of us is leaning into our differences and that's why I think the Gigglers relate to us. We're not trying to be cookie-cutter-type girls. Some days, we're off, some days, we're on. We have so much fun putting together outfits and surprising each other," she says, adding of DeSorbo's reactions to her outfits, "Sometimes, I walk in and she's like ‘no,’ and sometimes, she's like ‘wow’.”
