Travis Kelce might just go down in history for (almost) asking Taylor Swift out during one of her Eras Tour shows with a friendship bracelet (the "Cruel Summer" singer's unofficial love language), but he is far from the first star who tried to score a date at a concert. In fact, Prince once shot his shot with Halle Berry during one of his performances—although his advance didn't land him a night out with the actress.

The Catwoman star revealed she was courted by the "Purple Rain" legend during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! And, before you get excited, his plan did not include a big on-stage serenade, but rather a super casual gesture by way of a piece of paper.

Kimmel prompted the story by asking Berry, "Is it true that Michael Jackson asked Babyface to ask you to go on a date with him?" To which, Berry responded, "I don't know, but I know Prince asked me out on a date," adding that he "sort of" asked the question in person.

"I was at one of his concerts here on Sunset at the Key Club, and he had somebody come out with a piece of paper," she explained. "And you know like kids do, you say, 'Do you like me? Yes or no.' I went, 'Yes!' I mean, I'm at his concert, right? 'Yes!' [He] came back out again: 'Would you go out with me?'"

Berry was less enthused the second time around; she admitted she did not check a box that time. "No, I didn't send the paper back. I kept the paper."

Although Berry and Prince never rendezvoused, they did share some sweet moments over the years. Prince even presented Berry her NAACP Image Award back in 2011.

"As if this couldn't be more amazing to win an Image Award, but to have it be handed to you by Prince," Berry said during her speech, after giving the rock star a hug. "I've only loved him my whole life, so thank you, Prince, for honoring me tonight."

The Never Let Go star told Andscape how much of an impact Prince made on her life in 2017, a year after the musician died.

"My first concert was Prince. That man, his music changed my childhood and my teenage years," she said. "He got me through some shit. I was a huge, admiring fan of his, and I became a friend of his during his lifetime."

Prince went on to find love with Mayte Garcia, whom he was married to from 1996-2000 and shared son Amiir Nelson; and Manuela Testolini, whom he was wed to from 2001-2007. Meanwhile, Berry has had three husbands: David Justice (1993-1997), Eric Benet (2001-2005), and Olivier Martinez (2013-2016), with whom she shares 10-year-old son Maceo. Berry also has a daughter, 16-year-old Nahla Aubrey, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey. She is currently dating musician Van Hunt.
