Genius $3 Bunnings hack to get stains off shower screen

A clever mum has found a nifty hack to clean the bore water stains off her shower screen, and it cost her all of $3.

Elyshia shared her idea to the Bunnings Mums Australia Facebook page earlier this year, saying she had only recently moved into her house and tried everything to get her shower screens clean to no avail.

“Had to share because my mind is blown!” she wrote, “Finally bought a scraper from Bunnings today”.

“First photo is before… Second is after a clean with homemade gumption, a rinse and dry”.

The results speak for themselves, her shower scum is completely gone.

All Elyshia did is use the $3 scraper tool, which is designed to clear dried paint or silicone from surfaces, with a little elbow grease on her dry shower screen.

Then she mixed half a cup of bicarb soda, 10 drops of lemon oil and one capful of Thieves Household Cleaner to create a paste, and used that to finish the cleaning job.

The post was met with a massive response from impressed Facebook users, with many saying they use a similar scraper for lots of jobs around the house.

“Good idea, another use for this scraper,” one person said, “I've used it to remove a frost paint from a window that I did applied wrongly and remove old small drops of paint and stains from all my windows.”

“The scrapers are also the bomb when cleaning your oven,” another noted.

Elyshia’s success even inspired one person to try the same, saying, “So after reading this post, I couldn’t resist giving this ago. Lol. Nothing else to do on a Sunday evening”.

“One screen came up beautiful, still working on the other. Thanks for the tip”.

Hacks to clean hard water stains off shower screens

Others recommended trying a magic eraser like this one from Scrub Daddy, or Bar Keepers Friend to get the job done.

Meanwhile on TikTok, user @linduh_sanchez got great results cleaning his shower screen using a $6 tub of The Pink Stuff and a regular sponge.

He simply scooped out a bit of the pink paste, worked it onto a small section of the shower screen, then washed it off, and the before and after result is very impressive.
