You'll never guess who's been named 'The Sexiest Man Alive'

Forget George Clooney, Chris Hemsworth and Zac Efron and make way for this very unexpected A-list star who has just been named "The Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine.

It's Blake Shelton: country music singer, The Voice USA judge and Gwen Stefani's fiancé.

The 41-year-old seemed pretty chuffed about his new title as he took to Twitter to thank the magazine for the honour.

"Thank you @people!!!! Don't hate me because I'm beautiful... (sic)," he wrote.

The Voice judge also joked about his new found sexiness in a statement on Tuesday.

“I’ve been ugly my whole life,” he said. “If I can be sexy for a year, I’m taking it!"

And, of course, with any announcement as big as "The Sexiest Man Alive" , people will have their own opinions on the subject.

But as one Twitter user pointed out being sexy isn't just skin deep.

We also love a laid back bloke who enjoys a "cold one".
