Gwen Stefani Details Finding 'the Real Thing' with Blake Shelton After Gavin Rossdale Divorce on New Song 'Somebody Else's'
The single will appear on Stefani's upcoming album 'Bouquet,' out Nov. 15
Gwen Stefani is spilling the tea on a past relationship.
On Friday, Sept. 20, the "Just a Girl" singer released "Somebody Else's," the next single off her forthcoming album Bouquet.
On the country-rock track, Stefani, 54, details why she had to leave an ex — and is feeling so much better now that he's "somebody else's problem."
"I don’t know what a heart like mine was doin’ in a love like that," she sings in the opening line. "I don’t know what a woman like me was doing with a man like you / But now I got a love so true."
She picks up the pace in the chorus and says what she really feels: "Now that I’ve found the real thing / You don’t compare / And I don’t care that you’re somebody else’s / And it doesn’t even break my heart / You’re somebody else’s / And I pray for them whoever they are."

Stefani also assures fans has no intention of looking back: "If I could go back in time I would erase you / But I could never go back there."
Elsewhere in the song, Stefani details the ex's not-so-great characteristics: "Narcissistic, semi-psychotic, so manipulated," singing: "I bought it every time / But not this time / You gaslit, my world was burning / Had to leave before it stopped turning / So happy I could cry / ‘Cause you’re not mine."
Stefani and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, 58, were together for 20 years and married for nearly 13 before they split in August 2015. The pair share three sons: Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10.
After meeting on the set of The Voice in 2014, the No Doubt singer began dating Blake Shelton, 48, in the fall of 2015, as they were each going through respective divorces (the country star had split from his wife Miranda Lambert, 40, that July.) Stefani and Shelton wed in July 2021, and Rossdale has also moved on romantically: he was linked to Xhoana X in May.
Since their split, Stefani and Rossdale have remained committed co-parents.
“The one thing — the only good thing, because everything else is not good — is we care about the children and it’s about them," he said in a 2017 interview with Fabulous magazine, also calling his ex "incredible." "So we do everything to make this life change as seamless as possible.”
Stefani's fifth studio album, Bouquet, will drop on Nov. 15, marking her first new record in seven years.
“my fifth studio album, 'Bouquet’, will be in full bloom on November 15th 💐,” she wrote on social media.
The album will have 10 songs and many have a flower theme, like "Marigolds," "Empty Vase" and "Purple Irises," a duet with Shelton that she released in February.
