“Grey's Anatomy” is bringing back Dr. Sydney Heron
Kali Rocha is rejoining the cast for a guest arc in season 21.
Cheer up, Grey's Anatomy fans! Dr. Sydney Heron is returning to Seattle.
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Kali Rocha will return for a guest arc as Sydney Heron in the upcoming 21st season of the medical drama, which makes sense given that season 20 ended with a handful of doctors losing their jobs. Could Sydney be serving as one of their replacements? It's possible.

Sydney Heron first appeared on the scene in season 2 when Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) went on maternity leave. Her departure meant that the perky resident had to take over managing Bailey's interns, which did not sit well with Cristina (Sandra Oh), who immediately clashed with, well, everything about Sydney.
Sydney stuck around for a bit in seasons 3 and 4, serving as Izzie's (Katherine Heigl) peer counselor after Denny's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) death in season 3 and even once going on a (very bad) date with McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) himself.

But we haven't seen her since. There's no word yet on how she might've changed or how she'll fit into the new season. But if we had to put money on it, we'd bet there's still at least a little pep in her step.
