Grey’s Anatomy Sneak Peek: Mika’s Colleagues Rally Around Her… But Is It Already Too Late? (Exclusive)

We don’t want to think it, much less write it, but the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy may turn out to be Mika Yasuda’s last.

You’ll recall that in the most recent episode of ABC’s long-running medical drama (recapped here), Midori Francis’ character — exhausted from trying to make up for time lost caring for her sister, cancer patient Chloe — fell asleep at the wheel while driving her home. In the above first look at the Thursday, Nov. 14, episode, the siblings arrive at Grey Sloan by ambulance significantly worse for wear: Chloe’s legs hurt a lot, and Mika has suffered blunt trauma to the abdomen.

“We’ve got you,” Teddy assures Yasuda as she and Bailey gurney her into the hospital. But do they, really?

Back in May, the news broke that Francis would not be sticking around to finish a third season as arguably the most beloved of the new class of residents that was introduced in Season 19. Fans were psyched that the character got involved with Helm, at last giving Taryn a romantic interest. And we only fell harder when, after their breakup, Mika left the friend zone with fellow intern Jules.

How Grey’s Has Handled Major Exits

Per the official logline for Thursday’s “If You Leave,” “the doctors must put aside their emotions under intense circumstances.” We know that that is. In other developments, “Levi asks James a shocking question that could impact their future.” Given that Jake Borelli is also on his way out, and Schmitt has just accepted a job in pediatric research in Texas, the erstwhile Glasses may be inquiring whether his new boo would like to accompany him.
