Green Day and 7-Eleven Announce Exclusive Blend of Band’s Punk Bunny Coffee: 'A Full-Circle Moment'

To celebrate the collaboration, 50 people can receive free 7-Eleven coffee for 711 days by getting inked with a custom 7-Eleven x Punk Bunny tattoo

Green Day is teaming up with 7-Eleven for a buzzy coffee collaboration.

To commemorate two special milestones — the 30th anniversary of Green Day's breakout album Dookie and the 60th anniversary of 7-Eleven originating the concept of freshly brewed coffee in to-go cups — the rock band has created a special Anniversary Blend of its Punk Bunny Coffee to be sold exclusively at U.S. 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations.

The Anniversary Blend has vibrant hints of citrus along with undertones of rich stone fruit, finished with a warm cocoa flavor and a dash of spice, creating "a multi-layered coffee experience," according to a press release. In addition to the limited-edition offering, Green Day will bring its Fair Trade Certified coffee to 7-Eleven with bagged blends and K-Cups of Punk Bunny's Sound Check and Last Ride In roasts.

Fans can also score a limited-edition Punk Bunny-inspired collectible refill mug in 7-Eleven and Speedway stores while supplies last. The two companies also created exclusive merchandise — including co-branded T-shirts, hoodies, caps, totes, buttons and stickers — which is being sold via 7-Eleven's online shop, 7Collection.

Green Day's collaboration with 7-Eleven is fitting, as the band's members — Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt — were regulars at the convenience store when they were first getting their start on the music scene in Berkeley, Calif.

"When we first came together as a band back in high school, the 7-Eleven in our hometown was our go-to spot," Green Day frontman Armstrong, 52, said in a statement. "As we celebrate the anniversaries of two of our biggest albums, it's a full-circle moment to have our coffee company Punk Bunny available at 7-Eleven stores."

In celebration of the launch of the 7-Eleven x Green Day coffee collaboration, fans will have a special opportunity to take part in a long tradition of Green Day fans affirming their love for the band in ink. On Wednesday, Aug. 28, starting at 8 a.m. ET, the first 50 people (ages 21 and up) to show up at the 7-Eleven store at 800 6th Ave. in New York City and get inked with a custom 7-Eleven x Punk Bunny tattoo will receive free 7-Eleven coffee for 711 days.

The semipermanent tattoo is designed by Lady Cobra, a California-based tattoo artist who also will be on-site at the event to personally ink fans.

In addition to marking 30 years since the release of Dookie in 1994 — bringing with it hits such as "When I Come Around" and "Basket Case" — Green Day is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of its American Idiot album with the launch of a new deluxe edition of the record featuring unearthed demos and live performances.

“In the summer of 2004, Green Day entered the studio with Rob Cavallo to create American Idiot, uncertain of what the future held,” the band wrote on Instagram on Aug. 9 when they announced the upcoming release. “American Idiot was crafted as a response to the daily bombardment of media that spreads it far and wide, making us desensitized and weary — filled with themes that still ring true today, even 20 years later.”
