Before Joan Vassos was on The Golden Bachelor, she was on the big screen!

The inaugural Golden Bachelorette lead spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her celebrity crushes as filming for the new season commences. Reminiscing on her love for actor Rob Lowe, Vassos revealed she met him on set of one of his movies when she was younger.

"I love Rob Lowe — I think he's so freaking handsome, and he's funny, and he's a great actor," she said. "I was actually an extra in a movie that he was in, so I met him in person. I've loved him since I was 21 years old. I was in St. Elmo's Fire.”

She added: “You can see me, like, in a split second as an extra."

In the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, Vassos can be seen quickly riding her bicycle past a fraternity house as Lowe's character Billy Hicks stands outside. The moment comes about 52 minutes into the beloved film.

When it comes to her real-life crushes, Vassos told ET what she is looking for in her future husband. After leaving the Golden Bachelor early to be with her daughter, who had just had a baby, Vassos will be going through the full process for the first time.

"Obviously [he needs to be] kind and a family man," she said. "My father was the ultimate gentleman. He opened doors, carried everything, hopped up when a woman walked in the room, was always polite, never cussed, just was such a gentleman. I am looking for a gentleman. There is something about that that is so charming and endearing to me."

She continued to say she likes an adventurous guy who can do all the things she planned to do with her late husband John, who died from pancreatic cancer in 2021.

"When that all kind of vanished, I really missed that thought of planning a future with somebody and doing some fun things," she said. "I am ready for somebody that has a little sense of adventure and ready to have some fun. You only get to do this once. You only get to live once. It's a big world and I'm ready to see it. I feel like I gotta get moving."

It continued: “I’ve never been this vulnerable and grateful at the same time, I’m thankful to have the most supportive friends, family and viewers a golden girl could ask for,” she continued. “I’m not sure what this journey holds, but if it's anything like my suitcase, it’s sure to be FULL of surprises!
