Giving Birth Should Be Your Only Focus In The Delivery Room, But Mothers — Tell Us About A Time When You Had To Advocate For Yourself During Labor And Delivery
We recently shared a story about a mother who had just given birth, but had to stick up for herself when her midwife seemed to deviate from her birthing plan.

In the video, a midwife tells 22-year-old Taylor Locke, known as @taylor_._mae on TikTok, "We're gonna cut the [umbilical] cord cause your placenta is trying to come, okay?"
Taylor then asks her, "Is the cord white?"
The midwife responds, "Well, it's its normal color." To which Taylor responds, "I wanna wait until it's white to cut it." She then appears to look up at her midwife who doesn't seem to respond to her.
Taylor's experience encouraged other women to start sharing their stories. So we're asking the BuzzFeed Community: Have you or a family member ever had to advocate for you or yourself in the delivery room?
Maybe you didn't want an epidural but you heard the medical staff discussing one, so you had to put your foot down.
Maybe, similar to Taylor, you had done your research on a certain medical technique and medical professionals said they wanted to do something different without explanation.
Or maybe medical staff members were asking your spouse to make important medical decisions, but your spouse deferred to you to make sure you got what you wanted.
If you or anyone else in your family had to step in and advocate for you, we want to hear about it. Please comment below or fill out this Google form to remain anonymous. Your response could be featured in an upcoming post.
