George Michael's Aussie ex arrested at late singer's mansion

George Michael’s ex, Fadi Fawaz, has been arrested on suspicion of smashing up the late singer’s former home.

According to The Sun loud smashing noises could be heard inside the building and water was seen gushing out of the front door.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called on Tuesday, 23 July at around 7pm to a report of a man seen on the roof of an address.

“Officers attended and the man was no longer on the roof but inside the address, which had extensive damage.

“Due to the damage inside the property the London Fire Brigade attended.

“The man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage. He has been taken into custody at a north London police station.”

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade confirmed they were called to the address at 8.24pm on Tuesday and helped clear up leaking water. They left half an hour later.

Earlier this year it emerged Fawaz has been left out of the Careless Whisper singer’s $174.81 million will. Michael’s sisters Melanie and Yioda will get an equal share of all the singer's major assets, including his two London homes.

Fawaz has allegedly been “squatting” at the London property since the singer died on Christmas Day, in 2016.

It had previously been reported by The Sun on Sunday that windows at the property had been smashed, with Fawaz claiming he was doing home improvements.

Michael’s other London property, a seven bedroom mansion where he lived with Kenny Goss, his partner for 13 years until 2009, was recently put on the rental market.

The Faith singer - who had a history of substance abuse - was found dead in bed aged 53 at his Oxfordshire residence. His death was attributed to heart and liver failure.

Australian hairdresser Fawaz and Michael had been on/off lovers for several years before the singer died.
