George Clooney rushed to hospital after extreme weight loss

George Clooney was rushed to hospital after losing an extreme amount of weight for his latest film.

The 59-year-old told The Mirror that just days before he was due to fly to Finland to shoot and direct The Midnight Sky, he had to be admitted to hospital after losing nearly 13kg.

“I think I was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself,” George said.

The Hollywood star was diagnosed with pancreatitis and said it took him a few weeks to get over the illness.

During filming for the movie, which also stars Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler and Tiffany Boone, George plays an astronomer with cancer.

He was forced to grow out a scruffy beard, something he said his son ‘loved’ to play with.

“But my wife and daughter were really happy when it came off because it was very hard to find a face underneath all that mess,” he said.

Last week, George opened up about his twins he shares with Amal Clooney, saying there’s a bit of a language barrier between them and their kids.

"We did a really dumb thing, which is, they speak fluent Italian. I mean fluent Italian, at 3,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

“But I don't speak Italian, my wife doesn't speak Italian, so we've armed them with a language."
