While the whole world is talking about the arrival of the new royal baby, Hollywood actor George Clooney says he wouldn’t prefer being the godfather of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s newborn son.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 58-year-old actor, who has been a longtime friend to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, explained exactly why he’d rather decline the special honour if he was approached by the couple.

“That would be a bad idea,” said Clooney. “What would that — I shouldn't be the [godfather] — I'm the father of twins. I can barely do that.”

It’s been nearly two days since Baby Sussex was born, and overnight the royal couple introduced their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to the world.

While Clooney’s happy for the couple, he joked he’s a little bit made about the timing of the royal baby’s arrival on his birthday, May 6.

“The kid stole my thunder,” he said.

The royal baby wasn’t the only kid to steal Clooney’s birthday thunder.

George and wife Amal welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander, back in June 2017.

He told Kimmel that his daughter kicked him out of his own bed the morning of his birthday.

“And she spreads out, and you're literally laying like this on the bed, in the corner, hanging off,” Clooney explained.

“Then I realise, that's no good. So I covered all around the bed with pillows. In case she falls off. And I went and slept in her nursery.”
