FYI, Kate Middleton Might Travel Abroad Next Year
Kate Middleton is back in the spotlight at Remembrance events this weekend as she gradually returns to work following her cancer diagnosis. Prince William has indicated that it is likely we will see more of her next year.
“Hopefully Catherine will be doing a bit more next year, so we’ll have some more trips maybe lined up,” William was quoted as saying in an interview with print media at the end of his visit to South Africa. As things stand, the only upcoming event Kensington Palace has tentatively committed the Princess to is her carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December. However, William’s words suggest that if her recovery continues as hoped, she will soon return to more engagements and trips.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ last joint overseas trip was to Jordan in June 2023 for Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding to Rajwa Al Saif. Their previous major joint trip was to the U.S. in November 2022 for the third Earthshot Prize Awards.
William’s interview with media who traveled with him to South Africa for this year’s Earthshot Awards has made multiple headlines. Last week, reports revealed that he had described the past year as “brutal” and probably “the hardest year in my life.” In this latest tranche of comments, which appear to have been held back by the media for the Sunday newspapers, he also apparently said he was trying to do things differently for his generation, describing this as “maybe a smaller R in the royal.”
Although the interview appears to have been wide-ranging, the Prince made no comments in reaction to his finances being recently scrutinized in a Channel 4 documentary about the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster.
