The iconic sitcom Friends turned 30 on Sept. 22, 2024. To celebrate the milestone anniversary, Max announced that a Friends-related game show will be coming to the streaming service.
The network has been tight-lipped about the new limited series but we found a few details to share about Fast Friends. Here's what we know so far, including how the game show will work and how many episodes there will be.
What is Fast Friends about?
How Fast Friends will work is still under wraps but Max says contestants will be reliving moments from the show as they compete in the limited series.
If grabbing coffee at a Central Perk popup is on your bucket list, imagine racing through Rachel and Monica’s apartment or darting across Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad as you compete for prizes.
"Fans will be put to the test with trivia, puzzles and games that will keep even the most die-hard Friends fans on their toes,” Max revealed in a release. “The winning team will be crowned the ultimate Friends fans.”
The title Fast Friends also hints that speed will likely be an integral part of the competition. Contestants will be competing teams and it also sounds like athletic and problem-solving skills could prove necessary.
We're envisioning some mashup of Supermarket Sweep and The Amazing Race, but we'll have to wait for more details before we know for sure.

Will the original Friends cast be in Fast Friends?
There's no word yet as to if the original cast of Friends will be involved on the show in any way, as either a cameo, a host or any other role. Cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer could all feasibly make appearances. Unfortunately Matthew Perry passed away in 2023.
When is the release date for Fast Friends?
The release date for Fast Friends has yet to be announced.
The show will begin production in October, according to Variety, which normally would mean it’ll be some time before release. However, since it’s a limited series tied to the 30th anniversary of Friends—which has already passed—it could be on the production fast track.

Where will Fast Friends be filmed?
The Friends game show will be filmed at The Friends Experience: The One in New York, an interactive exhibit designed to take you back to the show and its most memorable moments.
The exhibit is held in a two-story, 17,000-square-foot building featuring 18 immersive rooms/set recreations, props, costumes and more.
What is The Friends Experience?
The Friends Experience is a traveling production with locations currently open in New York and London and another set to open in Las Vegas. The attraction has also traveled to 25 different cities around the world, so you never know where it might pop up.
Who will host Fast Friends?
The host for Fast Friends hasn’t been revealed. James Corden hosted the Friends reunion special in 2021, but a competition show may require a different hosting skill set.
It is also possible that a cast member from the show could serve as the host.

We still don't know much about the show including what prizes winners will take home whether that be cash, vacations or Friends-related memorabilia.

We also don't know if there will be an open casting call for Fast Friends. Since the show will only have four episodes, it's possible that they'll cast it without the typical public call for contestants that most game shows have.
Who is producing Fast Friends?
Produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, Fast Friends will be executive produced by Dan Sacks, Bridgette Theriault and Dan Norris; with Richard Burgio serving as co-executive producer.
Sacks is known for competition shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, Theriault is known for The Ellen Show, Norris recently co-executive produced The Gong Show and Burgio worked on Extreme Couponing. So there's a lot of game show experience on the creative team.

How to watch Fast Friends
The four-part game show Fast Friends will be available to stream on Max when it releases. Production begins next month which puts the release window any time from the end of 2024 into 2025. No official dates have been confirmed.
