Friend calls out 'insane' Meghan Markle theory: 'Damaging'

A friend has fiercely defended Meghan Markle after a wild theory emerged she was wearing a microphone during a walk at Windsor Castle following the Queen's death.

Meghan greeted mourners as she walked with Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton, however eagle-eyed royal fans noticed a rectangular-shaped object under her dress.

Many took to Twitter to speculate what the object was, with many suggesting it may have been a microphone pack.

Speaking out following the theory, her friend told Page Six the claims were baseless.

"This is insane and actually damaging to her," the source said.

"Of course she was not wearing a mic."

Several people speculated Meghan was gathering content for a Netflix docuseries, with many slamming her on Twitter.

"The waist outline sure looks like a mic pack. Shame on her," one commented.

"If it turns out she did have a wire to record or transmit, she should be banned from all things RF. This is getting ridiculous," another added.

Others suggested it may have been a medical device while others defended the Duchess on Twitter from people trolling her over the object.

A video expert told 7Life it was possible Meghan could have had a microphone pack under her dress if she and Harry were producing a documentary.

"To get clear audio from Meghan and Harry, they would likely need to wear a mic," the expert said.

"The editors can then match up the audio recorded, with all the vision of the royals on their walkabout.

"Mics these days are wireless, and often easy to hide. So it's not beyond the realms of possibility that the duo could be wearing them.

"If I were producing a documentary with their involvement, I guarantee I'd be trying to record clear audio to go with the pictures the world has seen."

Prince William and Prince Harry surprised royal fans on Saturday when they reunited with their wives Kate and Meghan to view flowers outside the gates of Windsor Castle left for the Queen.

It was the first time in two years that both couples were together after Harry and Meghan made the choice to step down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's departure lead to a rift between the brothers, with both Harry and Meghan voicing criticism of royal life over the last two years.

However, for 45 minutes, the brothers' bond seemed to be restored as the foursome walked through the crowds and accepted condolences from the public.

The two couples even left in the same car and headed in the direction of Frogmore Cottage, Harry and Meghan's UK residence.
