Frasier’s Kelsey Grammer and Peri Gilpin Talk Roz’s Season 2 Return — Will She and Frasier Get Romantic?
Roz is back this season on Frasier… and she and Frasier might be rekindling an old flame.
Peri Gilpin returns to reprise her role as Roz in this week’s episode (now streaming on Paramount+) after a guest appearance in last season’s finale, and she’s set to appear in multiple Season 2 episodes. But if Roz still lives in Seattle, what’s she doing in Boston? Well, her daughter Alice is all grown up now and in grad school at RISD, “which is Providence, Rhode Island, so not far from Boston,” Gilpin explains to TVLine in the video above.

Grammer adds that “we wanted to find a really good reason for Roz to come back.” After toying with an idea where Frasier would host a podcast that would reunite him with his old radio producer, he and the writers decided to go back to Seattle in an upcoming episode to “reacquaint ourselves with what that was, physically and emotionally, and go from there back to Boston with Roz, to give her a new life.” And these two embarking on a new chapter together is “a very cool thing,” Grammer and Gilpin agree.
Frasier and Roz have been friends for a long time, but could that friendship turn into something more? A photo from an upcoming Season 2 episode — which you can see above — shows Frasier and Roz in the middle of what appears to be a romantic kiss, with Freddy and Eve looking on in shock. “It’s scandalous,” Grammer jokes. “I’m in an uproar about it. Thank God it’s soft focus, so you can’t really tell what’s happening.”
So is there a chance these two could make a go of it as a couple? (After all, they did sleep together in Season 9 of the original Frasier.) “We’ll just let the rumors fly… God only knows,” Grammer says coyly, before citing a moment from the original series where Frasier suggested to Roz that if they’re still single in 40 years, they should marry each other — but Roz thought they should kill each other instead. “That, I think, is kind of where we’re at,” Grammer hints with a grin.
