Frankie Muniz Loses Control in Rough Car Wreck During Nascar Race

Frankie Muniz was in good spirits on Friday, Nov. 8, despite losing control of his car during a NASCAR race.

The actor, who announced just last month that he will race full time for Reaume Brothers Racing in NASCAR’s 2025 season, was driving in a race during the Craftsman Truck Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Ariz., on Friday when he lost control of his vehicle.

Video footage shared on X, formerly Twitter, by sports reporters showed Muniz, 38, limping along as he made his way over to an ambulance after exiting his race car. “Hard hit for @frankiemuniz,” NASCAR reporter Noah Lewis tweeted after the crash. Muniz’s vehicle, the #27 More Core Diamond Drilling Ford, was later photographed getting towed off the track.

Despite the “hard hit,” the Malcolm in the Middle star didn’t appear to be banged up too badly when he spoke with reporters later in the day. Though he described the wreck as “unfortunate,” he spoke positively of the race overall, as seen in video footage from one post-race interview.

“I felt like I got a good opportunity to run with some guys, I made some passes, lost a few spots on restarts, went back out, passed then again,” he said. “So it was good for me to figure out how to get by people.”

The Agent Cody Banks actor described his experience with the crash, explaining, “I got hit from behind into the 42, and then the 42 got moved, and the 18 was right there, stopped, you know, and I went right into it. I just don’t feel like there’s anything I could have done there,” he said, adding that it "was a luck situation of getting through it.”

Though Muniz said the 2024 NASCAR season “wasn’t what we had hoped,” he is feeling optimistic about the year ahead.

“This proved that I can race with guys, I can pass here. We’re going to be better next year, and I got the whole off-season to prepare, and we’re gonna go get it,” he said.

“I just wanted to prove that I can battle with these guys, and I think I can,” he added.

Fans who commented on video footage of Muniz walking away from the wreck predicted “Better things ahead” for the actor, adding it was a “Tough end to a tough year.”

“Dude doesn't deserve the year he's had.... so much more potential,” one fan tweeted.

“Damn been a rough year for Frankie. Time to reset and take some time off before going full time in 25,” another fan wrote.
