Former royal aide, Jason Knauf, just gave a detailed interview to 60 Minutes Australia and truly dished about the royal family. Specifically, about the awful and unhinged conspiracy theories that dominated the internet when Kate Middleton 'disappeared' from the public eye after announcing she was recovering from surgery and prior to announcing her cancer diagnosis.

"It was awful, absolutely awful. It's the lowest I've ever seen him," Jason said. "Within a couple of weeks, if you're Prince William, you find out that both your wife and your father have cancer. I couldn't believe it."

Jason went on to explain that the conspiracy theories took a toll on the royal couple, who hadn't yet told their kids about Kate's diagnosis. "The problem was that all this crazy conspiracy theory stuff kicked off in the background, online. 'Was she really ill?'" Jason said. "But they didn't want to say yet that she had cancer because they hadn't told the children and they were still working through how to tell the children."

William has since spoken out about Kate's diagnosis, saying "It's been dreadful. It's probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult."

Kate is now in remission from cancer, which she announced back in January saying "It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
