We’re all familiar with Cookie Monster, Sesame Street’s mass consumer of chocolate chip cookies.

But Cookie Monster, saviour of vegetables?

The muppet stepped into the role this week, playing a Hulk-like character named Dr Brownie in a Sesame Street parody of superhero flick The Avengers.

Here’s what goes down: The dessert-loving super-villain Bon Bon tries to ruin the world’s vegetable supply by transforming them into sugary desserts.

Veggie-heroes Onion Man, Captain Americauliflower, Black Bean Widow, Mighty Corn, and Zuchin-eye try to stop Bon Bon, but it’s Dr Brownie who finally puts a stop to his dastardly deeds - by devouring the evil mastermind’s laser-shooting cookie chip ship. (Try saying that three times fast.)

We’re digging this new nutrition-minded Cookie Monster, who in recent years has cut down on cookie consumption and scarfed down more vegetables.

Maybe fellow Sesame Street resident Big Bird has something to do with the healthy shift?
