The teaser for the Pamela Anderson movie The Last Showgirl dropped on Thursday, providing the first look at the Gia Coppola film that’s been generating Oscar buzz for the former Baywatch star.

Anderson stars as Shelly, a Las Vegas showgirl whose career is coming to an end, alongside Kiernan Shipka, Brenda Song, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The role is an unusually meaty one for Anderson, who’s perhaps best known for being a tabloid staple in the 1990s and for Baywatch, which has received renewed attention with Beyoncé’s recent Instagram tribute.

The Last Showgirl star told Deadline at the Toronto Film Festival that the movie was “a happy accident,” for her as her “ex-agent turned it down within an hour and didn’t even show me” because they “didn’t think that I had it in me.” She also told Variety, “I underestimated myself too.”

Anderson got new agents but the doubt motivated her to give the role her all.

It “was really horrible because this is the most important thing and that’s what made me also really want to freaking crush this,” she also said at the festival.

The film will premiere at AMC Century City on December 13 and will hit theaters nationally on Jan. 10, 2025.
