All the Fast-Food Restaurants Open on Thanksgiving 2024

Believe it or not, but some of us would rather not cook for Thanksgiving. Sure, the abundant, food-focused holiday might be considered the culinary equivalent of the Met Gala for someone like Nara Smith—but the rest of us look forward to hanging up our casual culinary haute couture and taking the day off. Besides, if the choice is between laboring over a blazing hot stove and making an entire meal for upwards of 20 ravenously hungry people or having someone else do most of the heavy lifting, we’ll probably choose the latter. Fortunately, if you’re not the persnickety Michelin star-chasing chef-y type, there are plenty of fast food restaurants open on Thanksgiving, perfect for when all you’re craving is a Crunchwrap and a Baja Blast. If this sounds like you, follow along to find out who’s open for this year’s larger-than-life holiday. Maybe we’ll even get a McDonald’s sweet potato pie this year.

Arby’s

They have the meats! And what’s better than a delicious roast beef sandwich with au jus for dipping on Thanksgiving? Maybe one of their returning Deep Fried Turkey Gobbler or Deep Fried Turkey Club sandwiches? Now, that sounds like our kind of Thanksgiving feast.

Bojangles

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Bojangles Chicken Supremes are the best chicken tenders on the market. Yep, you read that right. We’re always down for crispy, juicy, perfectly spiced supremes, even more so on Thanksgiving. Thankfully, most Bojangles locations will be open during normal business hours, however, it’s best to check with your local store first. It’s Bo Time!

Burger King

What better way to celebrate the larger-than-life holiday than by having it your way? Most Burger King locations will be open to serve you like the royalty you are, although specific hours may vary. If you live in Florida, be sure to look out for the returning Cini Mini’s, too! Now that sounds like our kind of Thanksgiving dessert.

Del Taco

When it comes to eating fresh, there’s no better place to start than Del Taco. Not only do they slice, dice, cook and shred all of their ingredients in store, but they also deliver big on flavor and fun with can’t be beat prices. If you’re in the market for a little “freshavacado” on Turkey Day, most Del Taco locations will be open, but it’s best to double check with your local store first.

Domino’s

Pizza might not be top of mind when you think about Thanksgiving food, but why not break tradition and pick up a pie instead? Pizza pie, that is. Select Domino’s locations will be open on Thanksgiving Day. There’s never really a bad time for pizza anyway, and who knows, maybe grabbing a hot-and-ready slice will be our new annual tradition.

Dunkin’

America runs on Dunkin’—even on Thanksgiving. If you need your caffeine fix to make it through the big day, most locations Dunkin’ will be open during their normal business hours, although it’s best to check with your local store first. Make sure to check out their new holiday menu while you’re there!

Einstein Bros. Bagels

As far as coffee shops go, Einstein Bros. might be an all-time favorite. They’ve got delicious coffee and excellent bagels that really stand on their own amongst a crowd of over roasted coffee and lackluster bagels from other competing chains. Luckily, if you’re craving a perfectly toasted bagel and coffee, the fan-favorite coffee chain will have more locations open on Thanksgiving day.

Jack in the Box

Jack in the Box might be a West coast staple, but with over 2,200 locations nationwide, they’ve got quite the following. It’s a good thing they’ll be open on Thanksgiving too, because we’ll never turn down a Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger and a Coke. Don’t forget to add a casual taco on the side, too!

KFC

Thanksgiving is fried (pun intended) into KFC’s DNA. The home of the 11 herbs and spices is no stranger to having a permanent seat at our Thanksgiving dinner table and this year, you might even be able to pick up a perfectly seasoned cajun turkey at select locations. Most KFC stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day, but before you set your sights on a tender juicy chicken leg, you might want to check your local store hours first.

McDonald’s

Mickey D’s will also be open for Thanksgiving this year, however, hours may vary based on location. It’s best to call ahead and check with your local store before setting your sights on a Big Mac or a McFlurry. Make sure to check out mcbroken.com, too, to be on the safe side. Out of luck? We know another place that might be able to help.

Papa John’s

Papa John’s brought back their famous Shaq-a-roni pie just in time to celebrate the larger-than-life festivities on Thanksgiving Day. If you’re looking to feed a crowd (or at least hold them over until dinner time), most Papa John’s locations will be open for business on the big day. Now if only we could get Shaq to autograph one of the boxes. Here’s hoping!

Pizza Hut

Kids of the '90s know that the pizza to have was always Pizza Hut—especially if it had cheese in the crust. Fast forward to today and we still crave that rich, robust sauce topped with lots and lots of high quality ingredients. Thankfully, most Pizza Hut stores will be open for business on Thanksgiving Day. Huzzah!

Popeye’s

We’ve all had sad, dry turkey before and this year, we’d rather not have to deal with the guessing game that turkey tends to be. Fortunately, Popeye’s and their ever-reliable crispy crunchy chicken will be available for pickup at most locations on Thanksgiving Day. Just make sure to remember the sides.

Starbucks
IMAGO / Dean Pictures

Starbucks

Dunkin’ won’t be the only coffee chain up and running on Thanksgiving. As usual, Starbucks will be open for business serving up a variety of handcrafted seasonal lattes and pastries just in case you need a little boost before the inevitable post-Thanksgiving nap. Depending on the location, hours may vary, so be sure to check ahead.

Steak ‘n Shake

No smash burger is complete without a milkshake and Steak ‘n Shake specifically churns out some of the best ones you can find these days. They’ve got that hand-dipped nostalgic flair you can only find at juke joints and barhops like Denny’s or Johnny Rockets. Fortunately, if you’re craving a delicious Caramel Apple shake or even Pumpkin Spice Oreo one, the Indianapolis-based chain will be open for business on the big day.

Waffle House

The fact that Waffle House is open on Thanksgiving should come as no surprise as the 24/7, 365 breakfast chain is open literally rain or shine. In fact, the only time Waffle House is known to shut its doors is when the weather outside is too dangerous for anyone to stop in no matter what the occasion is. Thankfully, it looks like we’ll be able to enjoy an All-Star Special with scattered, smothered, and capped hashbrowns this Thanksgiving.

Wendy’s

If you can’t rely on McDonald’s, Wendy’s has you covered. The fan-favorite burger spot will be open for business at most locations, and you can bet you’ll be able to get your Frosty fix, too. Bonus points if you enjoy your Frosty with a teeny tiny pecan pie from Trader Joe’s. Yum!

Whataburger

For years, Whataburger has been a regional staple, but it has since branched out, opening a slew of locations all over the country. The fan-favorite, 24-hour smash burger joint will also be open on Thanksgiving Day, dishing out its signature delicious sandwiches and crispy shoestring fries. Hours may vary by location, however, so it’s best to check before you go.

White Castle

What’s not to love about perfectly made two bite sliders that disappear almost as soon as you get them? White Castle will open its palace doors in select locations on Thanksgiving, so you can get your slider fix, too. Maybe instead of turkey this year, we’ll pick up a Crave Crate to feed the whole family.
