Farmer Wants a Wife 2020: Meet the farmers and their potential wives
It’s time to polish up those cowboy boots and practice your ‘Yee-haws’ because a brand new season of Farmer Wants A Wife is coming to TV screens on Sunday, July 26, 2020.
This year’s iteration of the highly successful reality show — so far it’s seen nine marriages over nine seasons — will follow a bevy of rugged blokes on the hunt for their dream gal.
Channel 7 has revealed the five farmers looking for love in season 10 as Harry, Nick, Sam, Neil and Alex - here’s everything we know about these country heartthrobs — and the city-based lasses vying for their attention — so far.
Who are the farmers on Farmer Wants A Wife 2020?
Farmer Sam, 27
Tropical fruit farmer Sam hails from Innisfail, Queensland, and is looking for a lady he can spoil - most likely with a nice Italian meal.
“It’s really important to me to find true love, because I really want to settle down one day and have a family of my own. I have a lot of love to give. I love spoiling someone. My ideal girl would have to be loving, caring, and just a beautiful heart. A good heart, and loves food – she has got to love food! If she doesn’t love food, it might be a deal-breaker!”
Harry, 28
A grape, cotton and sheep farmer from Goolgowi, NSW, Harry says his ideal first date is a few beers around a campfire.
“It’s not easy – especially out here. If you do get emotionally attached and then you get your heart broken then you’re, sort of, stuck. Who do you turn to? I’m sure my dogs are sick of hearing me talk to them! I’d be a very supportive husband. I would be a red hot dad, I reckon! I think I am a pretty good bloke – I don’t know why I am single!”
Farmer Alex, 28
Alex, 28, is a sheep and cattle farmer from Cunnamullla, Queensland is ready to jump into the Famer Wants A Wife experience feet first.
“I’ve never been in love before. I’d hate to go through a whole life without finding love, and finding that special person who’s interested in being on the farm, and being out here, and being with me. I want a girl that’s full of surprises, that keeps me guessing all the time. I’m pretty open about my feelings and emotions – but not so much that I need to carry around a box of tissues or anything like that!”
Farmer Neil, 42
Single father of three Neil is a sheep farmer from Crookwell, NSW, who’s looking for his missing puzzle piece.
“I’m a single father of three. I’ve had my fair share of relationship ups, and relationship downs and I’m looking for ‘forever.’ It’s lonely – there are times when you really wish you had someone to bounce something off, and there’s no one there. When I look at the package now, and I look at kids, job; everything, I’ve got the complete package – minus one part.”
Farmer Nick, 44
Vineyard worker Nick from Deviot, Tasmania, is keen to fill his cup with love - and maybe a drop or two of wine.
“I am Nick and I live in Deviot, Tasmania. And I am looking for a wife to share it all with. It would mean everything to me to find true love. I am looking for a lady who accepts me for who I am. Does that sound cliché? I am looking for a lady who I can get along with. And it’s not just me finding love, it’s someone else finding love...with me.”
Farmer Jack, 27
Jack, a sheep farmer from Harrow, Victoria, hasn’t appeared in any promo material since late last year, prompting some fans to wonder if he’s set to appear on the show after all.
“I’m 27, from Western Victoria, and I’m looking for a wife. It is certainly very difficult to meet women in this part of the world. If she doesn’t like dogs, we might have our first little hiccup, I’d say, because of the amount we’ve got running around here. For me to find love, it’s really important. Family is everything – it’s absolutely vital. I think I could make someone happy out here – absolutely.”

What is Farmer Wants A Wife all about?
It literally says it in the title: this show is about farmers...who want wives. The successful reality TV series follows five single farmers from various parts of rural Australia as they embark on a quest to find love with someone from the city who they’ve been paired with through the show.
It’s based on a UK reality TV format and originally ran on the Nine Network from 2007 to 2012 with then-Getaway presenter, Natalie Gruzlewski, as host.
In 2016, the show was briefly brought back with country music star Sam McClymont as host, but it wasn’t a ratings hit and was shelved indefinitely by the network. Seven announced a new series was in the works late last year, and filming commenced in early 2020 with Nat Gruzlewski back in the hosting chair.

Has anyone found love on Farmer Wants a Wife?
They certainly have. The Aussie version of the show has produced more ‘happy-ever-afters’ than any other TV dating show, with nine marriages and 20 babies so far.
Internationally, 147 marriages have taken place and there have been a whopping 280 babies born as a result. Now that’s a success rate.
As far as we can tell, these Aussie Farmer couples are still going strong after pairing up in previous seasons:
Season 1 (2007): Chris Newsome and Kim Tierney
Farmer Chris from Tamworth found love in series one with Kim – their wedding was televised as part of season two. They now have two kids.
Season 2 (2008): Rob Hodges and Jo Fincham
They met and fell in love during the second season – ten years later, they’re still together and have three gorgeous kids together.
Series 3 (2009): Damian Atkins and Rachael Peynenborg
Rachael from Frankston moved to Tasmania to be with Damian. They have two kids together.
Season 4 (2009) - Scott Warby and Clare Spark
These two love birds had a long-distance relationship before eventually tying the knot. They now live on a property in Mungindi, NSW, and have two kids.
Season 4 (2009) - Brad Crane and Stacie Marmion
Lithgow cattle farmer Brad met Stacie on season four. They are still together and have three gorgeous kids.
Season 5 (2010) Nathan McClymont and Amanda Ecker
These guys met on Season Five, and Nathan proposed during the finale. They now have three kids together (their newest was born last month!)
Season 7 (2011): Frank Atherton and Tenille Jolly
These guys met during a speed date on the show – and they’ve been together ever since. They have one child together.
Season 8 (2012): Sam Alford and Jodie Byrne
Jodie relocated to Sam’s WA property to be with him. Sam proposed in 2012, and they now have a son together.
