Fans Show Concern After Ludacris Drinks Water From Glacier in Alaska
Ludacris is making stomachs turn with a video he shared on Instagram that captured the moment he decided to drink the water pooling between two peaks of a massive glacier in Alaska.
On Monday, Aug. 26, the "Act a Fool" rapper uploaded a clip showing him on top of a glacier in supremely casual clothing, holding a reusable water bottle in one hand and telling the camera: "Listen, man, half the world's glaciers are here in Alaska, I couldn't come here and just have a show."
"You know I got a bucket list, or as I like to call it, a 'f--k it list,'" Ludacris continued. "I've never tasted fresh glacial water ever in my life. And this is a first."
Hyping himself up, the Fast & Furious star let out a little cheer and exclaimed, "Here we go!" before bending down and sticking the entire bottle below the surface of the clear, blue water. A quick glance at the comments suggested that this was the second most anxiety-inducing moment for fans, narrowly trailing behind the part that directly follows, in which Ludacris actually sips from the bottle.
"Oh my god! Oh!" the 46-year-old multi-hyphenate shouted while swiftly advancing towards the camera operator just before the clip cut out.
Fans immediately took issue with the star's decision-making, citing health risks and echoing the official advice from the National Parks Service, which tells visitors not to drink from natural water sources unless the water has been properly purified first.
"Bro gon discover some ancient disease," one top-liked comment joked with concern.
"Terrified for you," another wrote.
"My nerves were Shot watching this 😩😂," a third admitted, before someone else similarly added, "I had a bit of anxiety watching this and worried you will slip! 🤣."
"Ummm sir," a different Instagram user shared in disbelief. "Who gon tell him?? 🤦🏾♂️."
Still, some locals won't necessarily pooh-pooh the idea of drinking the freshwater found across Alaska's backcountry, despite knowing the potential dangers, which include coming into contact with glacial water contaminated by poop as well as associated bacteria like giardia and cryptosporidium.
Ludacris' wild experience in Alaska comes shortly after another celebrity played around in nature–and with their health. Last week, Alicia Silverstone shared a selfie-style video to TikTok while unknowingly eating a deadly plant and asking fans if they could identify it for her.
This seems like a great time to remind everyone that just because it's found in nature doesn't mean it's safe for humans or pets to consume. Parade has an entire library of health-related content to help keep you, your dogs and even your cats out of harm's way while enjoying the outdoors.
