Fans point out glaring detail in Chrissie Swan's Christmas recipe video

The TV star has shared her go-to recipe for 'perfect' pork crackling.

Chrissie Swan has been praised on social media after she posted a video showing her followers how to make the “perfect” pork crackling ahead of Christmas Day.

The popular TV and radio presenter took to Instagram over the weekend to share her step-by-step guide to cooking the Christmas essential using an air fryer.

First, Chrissie asked her butcher for a spare roll of pork crackling that still had fat on the underside because “fat is flavour”.

She then put the uncovered pork in the fridge with the skin side up for at least 24 hours to ensure it had dried out.

After this, she cut the pork into smaller pieces, rubbed them with olive oil and butter and sprinkled with salt before cooking them on a tray in the air fryer at 200℃ for 25 minutes. Alternatively, you can cook the crackling in the oven at 200℃ for half an hour or until crispy.

Chrissie’s biggest piece of advice was to not eat the crackling straight away as it will continue to crisp up once it is cooled down.

“Resist the temptation to eat it straight out of the oven unless you’re within walking distance of a burns unit,” she joked.

“Butter? I did not know this was a thing”, another added, while a third said, “Who knew butter. Can’t wait to give this a crack”.

“I never thought to cut it up!! Game changer,” someone else shared, followed by a different user who replied, “Air fryer is THE BEST way to do pork crackling!”.

Meanwhile, one eagle-eyed fan noticed that the pork crackling Chrissie purchased at the start of the video was completely different to the one she ended up cooking.

“Are we gonna talk about the fact the piece of rind she puts in the fridge is different to the one she takes out?” they remarked, to which Chrissie replied: “Hahahaha ten points for noticing! I ate the first one before I could get around to filming it 😂”

The dessert is made up of 500ml thickened cream, a “generous squirt” of vanilla paste, and one packet of Arnott’s Choc Ripple biscuits.

“I am ALARMED by how many people have not stuffed themselves with the greatest and easiest cake on the planet,” she wrote in the caption.

“I can’t believe this is necessary but I won’t SLEEP until we’ve ALL experienced the magic of the CHOCOLATE RIPPLE CAKE!”
