Fans Are Baffled After Rita Ora Debuts Barely-There Beaded Look at the Met Gala

Rita Ora turned heads as she walked the red carpet ahead of the 2024 Met Gala—but mostly, she baffled fans with her barely-there beaded look.

On Monday, May 6, the British singer-songwriter, 33, posed for photos with her husband, Taika Waititi, 48, before heading into The Metropolitan Museum of Art for its annual fundraising event. The official dress code was “The Garden of Time.”

Ora rocked a sheer bodysuit underneath an outfit made entirely of colorful beaded strands hanging in the front and back, leaving her sides completely open from top to bottom. For her hair, she sported a wet look. She explained that they were ancient beads sourced from North Africa and Europe, telling Vogue, “We really wanted to take fashion for me with the theme and just sort of a timeless beauty. So all these beads really age back to the first and second century BC. I mean some, I think, are older than anyone on this planet."

“It’s very heavy,” said, joking that Waititi might have to carry her up the iconic steps.

Meanwhile, Waititi donned a monochromatic look as he wore a chocolate-colored leather jacket, pants, shirt and tie.

When Ora and Waititi paused to speak with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, the interviewer asked if Ora had anything to change into once they got inside.

"No," she replied, "I also didn't think about the bathroom, so there's that. We might just have to poke a hole in the stocking."

On X (formerly Twitter), fans reacted to Ora's revealing look. One person wondered, "Why does rita ora look like she just climbed out of a swamp #Metgala."

Someone else agreed, writing, "Get oot my swamp!!!

Another X user commented, "Why is she wearing a bead curtain."

Meanwhile, yet another person joked, "Rita Ora with an incredible Archival Pull this evening: the beaded curtain from my freshman year college dorm!"

Someone else simply exclaimed, "rita ora? what the hell is that #metgala," as one compared her look to a beaded curtain typically hung in doorways.

Swamp creature and beaded curtain jokes aside, hopefully, Ora was able to figure out the bathroom situation with her outfit!
