Ahead of Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Friday 12 October, we’ve decided to take a deep dive into her father, Prince Andrew‘s life.

Here’s everything you need to know about Prince Charles’ younger brother.

Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward, is the third child and second son of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Born on 19 February, 1960, at Buckingham Palace, he is currently seventh in line to the throne.

He was created the Duke of York by Her Majesty, on his wedding day to Sarah Ferguson in 1986.

Where was Prince Andrew educated?

Prince Andrew was educated at Heatherdown Preparatory School in Ascot and like his father and elder brother Charles, he went on to attend Gordonstoun School in Morayshire, Scotland.

After leaving with A-levels in English, History, Economics and Political Science, in 1979, Andrew entered the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.

He joined the Royal Navy on a short-service commission as a Seaman Officer, sub-specialising as a pilot, before serving aboard the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible.

Andrew currently has the rank of Honorary Vice Admiral.

Where does Prince Andrew work?

After serving in the Royal Navy for 22 years, Andrew retired from active service in 2011 and took up a new position as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.

He held that role for a decade and is now a full-time working royal, who focuses on three areas of work; education and skills, entrepreneurship and science, technology and engineering.

Prince Andrew was married to Sarah Ferguson (“Fergie”), before the couple separated in 1992. They have known each other since childhood and were married at Westminster Abbey on 23 July 1986.

While they didn’t actually finalise their divorce until 1996, the couple remain good friends, even to this day.

Andrew and Sarah have two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, born in 1988 and 1990 respectively.

Eugenie will marry her long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank on October 12 and Andrew is expected to walk his youngest daughter down the aisle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
