Euphoria: Storm Reid Confirms She Won’t Be Back as Gia for Season 3
Gia will be MIA when Euphoria Season 3 eventually hits your screen.
“Unfortunately, Gia’s not returning for the third season,” Storm Reid, who for two seasons played Rue’s kid sister, shared with Rotten Tomatoes on the red carpet for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards (watch video below).

Even so, “I’m so so indebted to the cast and crew of that show, to HBO,” Reid effused. “Euphoria‘s a really special thing, and I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon.
“I’m forever grateful, forever indebted, and” — even as just a fan/viewer — “I can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store!” she added.

While HBO has not yet released a full cast roster for the upcoming season, the network confirmed in July that the “principal” players — which includes, in part, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow and Alexa Demie — will be back. Additionally, in a July 2024 episode of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live!, Colman Domingo confirmed that he would be back as Rue’s sponsor, Ali.
Season 3 of the HBO drama, which was renewed in February 2022, starts production in January 2025.
Euphoria’s Season 3: Everything We Know
Reid’s Gia won’t be the only character absent from Euphoria Season 3. Tragically, Angus Cloud, who played Fez, died in July 2023 of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. Former series regular Barbie Ferreira also will not return; she announced her departure from the role of Kat in August 2022. And we don’t expect to see Javon Walton, who played Ashtray, seeing as his character died during a shootout with police in the Season 2 finale.
In addition to her two-season Euphoria run, Reid’s TV credits include HBO’s The Last of Us, Netflix’s 2019 miniseries When They See Us, and episodes of Chicago P.D. and NCIS: Los Angeles.
