Eugene Levy’s Texts To Son Dan In Emmys Bit Are Peak Boomer Parent
Dan Levy spilled on father Eugene Levy’s texts to him ahead of their Emmys hosting gig and the boomer-esque messages in the bit were giving nothing short of “Baby Reindeer.”
The first father and son co-hosts in the award show’s history used their opening monologue Sunday to reflect on the Netflix limited series, which was nominated for 11 Emmys this year.
Dan Levy used the opportunity to call out his father for the texts, which he played up to sound a lot like Martha’s harassing messages in the series.
“The show was both frightening and oddly relatable for everyone out there whose parents still haven’t mastered the art of texting,” Dan Levy said.
He then tossed to a message from his father that appeared on the video display behind the pair.
“letz host emmyys. colin ferell will b ther. u still have crush? sent from my iphone,” the message read.
“I didn’t think these were going public,” Eugene Levy told his son.
“waltr okeef jok - 2 meen? sent from my iphonn,” the text read.
“You don’t even own an iphonn,” Dan Levy said.
“What does it matter? What does it matter?” Eugene Levy asked.
