Erin Molan unleashes on Dan Andrews over Commonwealth Games move: 'Idiot'

"He is gaslighting the entire state and the entire country."

Erin Molan has unleashed on Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews over the cancellation of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which was set to be held in regional areas of the state rather than the capital city of Melbourne.

The radio host slammed the Premier on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin on Wednesday, saying he should never have put his hand up for the job. "That amount of money is too much to spend when you're a state that's crippled in debt, Victoria has the worst date – [they] have completely mismanaged the economy.

"They are nut/basket cases when it comes to trying to manage the economy. The thing that annoyed me, does he know how many thousands of people will be directly impacted regarding jobs, careers, pursuits, opportunities?

"Athletes who don't get anywhere else to compete, who spend their whole lives training. This is their only opportunity to earn a living, get some sponsorship, do their craft, things that we just watch and take for granted," she added.

"Builders, people involved, people in the regions who have invested. People who work for the Commonwealth Games, who have invested. And he stands there, and he says, 'This isn't a hard decision. I'm not here to say sorry.'

The presenter was fuming and continued with her rant, saying, "Are you serious? If it's the right decision, fine, great, you're an idiot for signing up to it in the first place, if you've gotta pull out, do what you need to do. But say sorry!

"Say sorry to the thousands of people whose lives have been literally blown apart off the back of this decision. People are crying, it is so arrogant."

"I think he's doing a reality show, a parody reality show," Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes responded.

"Can I tell you, you know what I hate?" Erin said. "When people use the term gaslighting and women in particular use it all the time to try and accuse men of not liking them, 'Oh, you're just gaslighting me.' No, you're just an idiot. In this case, let me tell you, he is gaslighting the entire state and the entire country. He is gaslighting, he is full of it, take responsibility!"

Listeners were divided, with one Instagram user writing, "Oh please!!! I certainly do NOT feel gaslighted. Ask a homeless person or someone on a hospital waiting list what they would rather. I get the frustration, but keep it real!"

"Totally agree. It’s not like they will use the money for something good instead," another added. "They constantly waste our money and spend it on crap which is why our state is broke. To think that ‘this money’ will be allocated to one of the many promises he’s broken to date is just idiocy. He can’t be trusted to run this state."

"Nope I disagree," a fourth said, while someone else said, "Well said, Erin."
