Erin Molan and Dave Hughes clash over Australia Day: 'Sick to death'
Erin and Hughesy have very different views on the day.
Radio hosts Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes and Erin Molan clashed over the controversial Australia Day debate, with the 2Day FM hosts clearly divided on the topic.
First Nations peoples consider January 26 to be a day of mourning and not a day of celebration as it was the day Britain invaded Indigenous land. Many Australians stand with them and have been calling for the date to be changed to another day that everyone can celebrate.
This year marks the 30th year that Australia Day has been celebrated on January 26, despite many believing it has been that way forever.
Speaking about Australian cricketer Pat Cummins calling to change the date, Hughesy said, "Let's change the date, I'm all for changing the date."

"I'm just sick of the same debate every single year, I want to celebrate this amazing country and if we can't all do it on this date, then..." Erin said, with Hughesy interrupting her saying, "So Erin Molan's saying change the date!"
"No, I'm not saying change the date," she hit back. "You're such a loser."
"I am! I'm saying change the date!" Hughesy said with a laugh.
"No, I'm just saying I'm sick to death of not being able to celebrate, I respect people that want the date changed, and I respect people who want to keep the dat the same," Erin said. "I'm sick to death of fighting about it."
Hughesy then joked that anyone wanting Australia Day products such as flags should go to The Reject Shop if they're annoyed they can't purchase items from Woolworths and Kmart.
Fans shared their thoughts on Instagram, with one user saying, "We need to go back to the voting booths. That's the only way we can get a real idea on what Australians want, instead on going on what we all " think". My opinion is, changing the date doesn't change history. So leave it how it is."

"Why would you respect those who don’t want to change the date? They’re mostly white & racist!" another hit back. "Just change the date, what’s the big deal? Tradition is the worst reason to keep doing something… women wouldn’t be voting, corporal punishment would still be legal, gay marriage wouldn’t be a thing… change = progress."
"It doesn't matter what the date is, someone will sook about it, leave it where it is," a third added.
