- Australian model, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist
Elle MacPherson has revealed the secrets behind her seemingly age-defying figure and given fans insight into how they can achieve similar results.
The former supermodel made the admission in an interview with Sporteluxe, telling the publication her lifestyle is still centred on health, decades after earning her famous nickname - The Body.
Elle’s health secrets
Unexpectedly, exercise is paramount for the 55-year-old, but just how she puts herself through these paces has changed drastically since her time on the runway.
“I’ve swapped lots of aerobic exercise for conscious exercise such as yoga and meditation, walking, swimming, riding a bike and activities that keep the body moving but aren’t necessarily too strenuous or repetitive,” she said.
The mother-of-two went on to add the practice is an integral to keeping her mental health in check and is a part of her daily routine.
But after almost 40 years in the spotlight, Elle is well aware of how important food intake is to gaining results.
This is shown by eating largely raw foods and using a dehydrator ‘most days’ while preparing dishes.
She went on to explain following a vegan diet is a mainstay in her routine, which was kick started six years while suffering from sugar addiction, sleep deprivation and stress’.
“Today I largely follow a plant-based diet full of greens, as well as good quality fats, carbohydrates and plant protein that fuel my body with the right nutrients,” she said.
“When I’m at home I really enjoy being in my kitchen and experimenting with new recipes.”
Help from the pros
Last month, Elle gave another insight into her age-defying looks, telling followers she regularly undergoes lymphatic drainage on her stomach.
In before and after snaps of the treatments - administered by celeb-fave Sheila Perez - she showcased the difference made to an already-taut stomach.
“Special method developed by Sheila for lymphatic drainage and sculpting - they call her the torturer!” Elle wrote as part of an Instagram story.
“But we still keep coming back because it works!”
