Kaavia James gifted her dad Dwyane Wade new bling for his birthday.

On Monday, Jan. 20, a carousel was shared to 6-year-old Kaavia's Instagram, with the first image showcasing the NBA star, who celebrated his 43rd birthday on Friday, Jan. 17, hugging with his daughter while he showed off a cozy robe with the words "Kaav's Dad" printed on the chest.

Additional slides showed Wade opening another gift, a gold chain seemingly from Target, and blowing out his candles positioned on a single donut within a 12-pack from Blinkie's Donuts.

"Usually you got my back, but today I got yours daddy 🫶🏾," the caption read. "p.s. I’ll send you my @target bill later for this gift 😘"

Wade shares two children, Zaire, 22, and Zaya, 17, with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, and a son Xavier, 11, with Aja Metoyer. After getting married to actress Gabrielle Union in Aug. 2014, the couple welcomed Kaavia in 2018 through surrogacy. Wade is also the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.

In an interview with PEOPLE in 2021, Wade explained how he has used the lessons he learned from watching his parents to help him become the best father he can be.

"I learned a lot about what I didn't want, and what I did want. [But] at the same time, I never blame. I understand that we all have our own lives. We all have our own journey," Wade said. "My son Zaire, I'm able to tell him, 'Zaire, don't go left, go right.' My parents didn't have anybody to tell them that. They just went left, and sometimes you take a bad step and that bad step leaves you down a long road. But they found themselves back, and that's what I'm proud of."

Applying those lessons in his own fatherhood journey, Wade said that his main goal is to "lead with love."

"I want to be somebody who my kids always understand, that can adapt, and that is willing to grow and is willing to learn," he told PEOPLE. "Also, someone that they can come to for advice about this, that or the third, and that will not be judgmental about it."
