Drew Barrymore's dog is not impressed with Demi Moore's dog Pilaf: 'Uh oh'
“Are you gonna get small man syndrome, or are you gonna be into this?” Barrymore asked her dog.
It wasn’t exactly puppy love between Drew Barrymore’s dog Douglas and Demi Moore’s superstar pup, Pilaf.
A previously unaired clip of Douglas getting to meet Moore’s 3-year-old, 1.5-pound longhaired Chihuahua during Moore’s recent interview was featured on Monday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.
Prior to their meeting, Moore let Barrymore know that other dogs usually have a unique reaction to Pilaf and all of her pint-sized glory. “They’re usually afraid,” she explained, “because they don’t know that she’s a dog.”
While Pilaf looked overjoyed to meet Douglas, the same couldn’t be said for him. “Oh my goodness, Dougie, how are you gonna react?” Barrymore asked the uncertain-looking dog. “Are you gonna get small man syndrome, or are you gonna be into this?”

The 14-year-old dog took the first opportunity he could to put some space between him and Pilaf by sneaking off to the other side of the couch. “Look, she’s so desperate to get to him,” Moore teased as Pilaf tried to make a mad dash back to Douglas, who had sat down facing away from her.
A second attempt at a meet-cute between the pair of pooches didn’t exactly work out either. “He’s not interested, but let’s see, buddy,” Moore told her dog, lifting her up to his level. In response, Douglas briefly flashed his teeth in an upset smile. “Uh oh,” Moore declared. “Oh, sorry, are we getting in your way?”
The Substance actress gave Douglas a few apologetic pets before taking Pilaf and sitting down on the other side of the couch. “Oh Douglas,” Moore said. “Is [Pilaf] moving in on your territory?”
Barrymore then revealed that they had a question from fellow dog owner Justin Theroux, who asked Moore to name the most famous person that Pilaf had ever met. “Pilaf just met Bing, who is the Great Dane that is in the movie with Naomi Watts called The Friend, and that was a moment,” she said. “That would probably be the biggest star.”
Barrymore asked, “Was that Great Dane more gracious than his man over here?”

When Moore agreed, she turned to her pup and remarked, “Douglas, did you hear that?”
“He is literally not even looking at her,” Moore said as the cameras cut to reveal Douglas looking steadfast in the other direction as if Pilaf, a legend who made her television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this year, did not even exist. “But notice he’s not leaving?" she said. "He’s owning his sofa.”
She also took a moment to comfort her dog. “Pilaf, I know. Don’t feel rejected,” Moore said. “But don’t fall into that female thing of just because he doesn’t want you, you want him more. Don’t do it!”
