Drew Barrymore Uses Meghan’s New Name on Her TV Show
Meghan Markle surprised fans on Tuesday when she said that she wants to be known by a new name and now Drew Barrymore has obliged after the Duchess of Sussex appeared on the star’s namesake show.
“This is the Fast Five with Meghan Sussex,” Barrymore is seen telling her audience in a Wednesday preview of the show, when introducing her royal guest, People reported.
On Tuesday, Markle told her own guest star Mindy Kaling that she wanted to be addressed by the new name in the premiere of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
She later claimed that the Sussex title was bestowed upon her by the late Queen Elizabeth when she married Prince Harry in 2018. Now the 43-year-old’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, both also use the last name.

In the second episode of With Love, Meghan, the duchess corrected her friend Kaling when she called her Meghan Markle saying: “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now.”
On Wednesday, it was announced that the Suits alum would appear on Barrymore’s show.
In the preview, Meghan is seen answering a few rapid fire questions. She was asked about the last time she was surprised (a card Prince Harry and her kids sent her during a New York City trip), what parts of the prince she sees in their children (their British pronunciation of zebra), and what her former show Suits was called originally (A Legal Mind).
Barrymore’s acknowledgement of the duchess’ surname is notable.
Meghan told People this week that the Sussex title is a “part of our love story,” referring to her romance with Prince Harry.
She added: “I think as the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’ I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex.”
“It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children,” the Duchess of Sussex told People. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
