Jack Ciapciak; Drew BarrymoreDrew Barrymore transformed her talk show into a tattoo parlor on Tuesday by getting some particularly poignant new ink.
The actress, 50, and her special guest Savannah Guthrie, 53, both got tattoos that celebrated the people and things that they cherish most in the world.
“I wanted to get a tattoo and I just met someone who I’ve been waiting to meet,” Barrymore explained prior to her inking session. “His name is Jack [Ciapciak], actually, and we have a connection which is he recently lost his partner and he wanted to do something special, so he got a bench and on that bench he put a quote from Never Been Kissed, of all things.”

Drew Barrymore and Savannah Guthrie get tattoos on 'The Drew Barrymore Show'Barrymore met Ciapciak during a recent taping of her talk show. During their conversation, he revealed that he got his late partner Jack Lorentzen’s favorite line from the 1999 film — “Find out who you are, and try not to be afraid of it” — inscribed on the bench in his honor.
“The way you speak about Jack made me feel like the tattoo I want to get today is so fitting and meant to be, because you talked about how he didn’t waste time. That he really made the most of his time,” Barrymore told Ciapciak, who was sitting in the audience. “I’m getting the word ‘time.’ And I realize now how important time is, how meaningful, how not to take it for granted. Time is our most precious commodity, so I feel so grateful to get signs from whatever it is that gives you faith.”
Barrymore, ever the professional, asked Guthrie a series of questions about her new children’s book, Mostly What God Does is Love You, while getting her tattoo — and got so swept up in their conversation that she hadn’t even realized it was finished.

“Oh my God, I haven’t even looked at it by the way,” Barrymore said, looking down at the new ink located on the side of her wrist. “Uh, I love it. Thank God. I love it!”

Guthrie and Barrymore's new tattoosGuthrie, in turn, got a tattoo of two hearts that were hand-drawn by her kids, Vale and Charley.
“I told my daughter, I’m like, ‘Oh, I want you guys to draw little hearts and I’m gonna get it tattooed,’ and she’s like, ‘Mommy, every time you see Miss Drew you get a tattoo,’” Guthrie teased. “I’m like, not every time!”
The Today host's daughter wasn't wrong, though! Barrymore was present when Guthrie got her first-ever tattoo — the words "all my love," which were taken from one of her late father's love letters to her mom. Barrymore even joined her during the tattoo session, getting three sardines that represent her and her two daughters, Frankie and Olive.
