Sad reaction to Dr Chris Brown's photo

A playful photo has brought back sad memories for many of Dr Chris Brown’s followers.

The TV vet shared a beautiful photo of himself swimming with a stingray to Instagram, and while he captioned it, “Sometimes you don’t need arms to be called a clinger”, many people’s minds were elsewhere.

“Unfortunately this just reminds me of Steve Irwin straight away,” one said, while another echoed, “Unfortunately stingrays remind me of Steve Irwin. Please be always mindful Chris”.

“Omg Chris, remember Steve the Crocodile Hunter?”, “My first thought was of Steve too but that was a freak accident,” and “This is how Steve Irwin died,” were other comments.

Steve Irwin

The much beloved Steve Irwin passed away in 2006 after he was stabbed by a stingray in a freak accident.

He was just 44 at the time and had been swimming with the usually docile animal as part of a documentary.

The incident happened in Queensland’s Batt Reef, near Port Douglas, and brought on an outpouring of public grief across Australia and the world.

Nearly 13 years after his death, Steve’s memory lives on in his widow Terri Irwin, and children Bindi and Robert, who are now 20 and 15 respectively, and continue his legacy at Australia Zoo.
