Doritos Unveils Bold New Flavor That's a Big Win for Hot Sauce Fans
It's a good time to be a Doritos fan, as there are more varieties of the chip available than ever before. From new offerings such as Spicy Tropical Fusion to returning favorites like Guacamole, there's a Doritos flavor for everybody—but the brand's latest twist has one particular demographic in mind: Gen Z.
On Thursday, Jan. 9, Doritos announced it would be "pushing the flavor boundaries" with Doritos Golden Sriracha, described as having a "one-two punch of tangy and sweet," according to Food & Wine.
Instead of the traditional red sriracha spice, the new flavor will feature a blend of yellow and green sriracha.
“By keeping our finger on the pulse of trending and fan-favorite flavors, Doritos has developed a flair for putting an unexpected spin on beloved flavor profiles and elevating them to new heights," Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America, said in a statement.

"Doritos Golden Sriracha opens the door to an entirely new flavor that accomplishes a lofty task: putting a bold twist on Gen Z’s favorite hot sauce," Mahal continued. "We’re excited to introduce loyal snackers, esteemed foodies, and everyone in between to the Doritos version of Sriracha—I have a feeling this new flavor will secure a permanent spot in fans’ pantries alongside their go-to bottle of Sriracha sauce.”
A review of the new Doritos Golden Sriracha chips on The Takeout called the flavor mixture a "winning one" and said the "seasoning balanced quite nicely with the standard crispy Dorito."
According to the assessment, the flavor was a "sort of lime citrusy bend" that "gave the chips a bit of lightness to them to counterattack all the savory and tangy flavors taking up most of the flavor profile."
