Launching later this year on Israeli network HOT, Soul Sucker is based on the life of its co-creator and star Bat Hen Sabag, who was behind award-winning Israeli series Dumb. It follows three generations of an oppressive matriarchal family, dealing with the emotional scars passed down by mothers with a pinch of folklore.
Soul Sucker was co-created by Levin, who created, directed and EPd the original Israeli version of HBO smash Euphoria. She was a co-writer on another successful international format, In Treatment.
“Soul Sucker is unlike any other series we’ve taken out to the international marketplace, it is a comedy, a detective mystery, a family drama and a horror series all wrapped together in a program that you simply cannot take your eyes off,” said Dori Media boss Nadav Palti. “We’re very confident that this truly unique new series will be received in a similar fashion by audiences around the world, too.”
Dori will launch sales during a preview screening at the new MIP London, which is taking place in the English capital for the first time following the end of Cannes’ MIPTV. Dori is also behind the likes of Losing Alice and unscripted format Power Couple. MIP London takes place February 23 to 27, concurrent with the London TV Screenings.
