Don Johnson says young Dakota Johnson used to draw penises all over his desk papers

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" star was quite the rascal growing up.

There are some well-documented perks to being the child of a celebrity — or in the case of Dakota Johnson, the 35-year-old daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, the child of two celebrities. But there are drawbacks as well, like having your mischievous childhood moments discussed on national TV.

That's exactly what happened when Don recently stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and was asked what the Fifty Shades of Grey actress was like growing up.

"You wanted to be very mindful about leaving blank sheets of paper laying around on your desk or stuff like that, because she would promptly draw a large penis on it," Don said of Dakota.

Surprisingly enough (or maybe not?), host Jimmy Kimmel could relate: The comedian said he did the same thing to his dad growing up, and noted that his own son has continued the tradition.

Overall, Don said Dakota was "a very eventful child," and some pranks were worse than the anatomical art.

"If I would leave my phone laying around, just kind of unattended," he recalled, "she would get on the phone, and somehow get into my contacts and send obscene messages to random people."

The TV veteran — known for shows like Miami Vice, Nash Bridges, and Kenan — was on the late-night talker to promote his latest series, Doctor Odyssey, which premiered on ABC in September.

The show stars Joshua Jackson as Max Bankman, the new doctor on a luxury cruise ship "where the staff works hard and plays harder," while Johnson plays the ship's captain, Robert Massey. The cast also includes Phillipa Soo (Hamilton, Dopesick) and Sean Teale (Who Is Erin Carter?).
