Doja Cat Looks Unrecognizable With a Blonde Bob and Tiny Y2K Librarian-Core Glasses
She's a true style chameleon.
Doja Cat is truly a chameleon when it comes to switching up her look, going from bright long wigs for her stage appearances to shaving off her natural hair at the drop of a dime. The rapper's recent look, however, may be the most surprising transformation for fans. On December 5, Doja Cat debuted a new look on X that embraced the librarian-core trend.
Doja shared a makeup-free selfie of her with a straight blonde bob with shaded roots and slightly curled ends. To bring home the academia aesthetic, she accessorized with square silver metal-rimmed glasses.
Doja's new hair comes as a surprise, not so much because of its nostalgic influence but because the singer has previously expressed that she prefers the shaved head look. While shaving her head on an Instagram Live in 2022, she told fans, “I feel like I was never supposed to have hair. I don’t like having hair. I cannot tell you one time since the beginning of my life that I’ve ever been like, ‘This is cool.’ I just do not like to have hair.”
“I remember feeling so fucking exhausted with working out,” she explained, noting that her hair became a nuisance while training. “I’d be working out, but I couldn’t focus because I was more concerned with how I looked and how my hair was doing.”
“I just can’t believe that it took me this long to be like, ‘Shave your fucking head,” the star added. “I’m really liking this. What is the use of having hair if you’re not going to fucking wear it out? I don’t even sport it.”
In the time since, Doja has been spotted rocking a buzzed look, in addition to wearing wigs to fashion events and performances. "I still wear wigs, and they look better now because I don’t have so much hair under them, braided with grease and glue buildup because I wouldn’t wash my hair for two or three weeks at a time," the rapper told Variety in 2023. "Now I have a fucking hair hat—a shake-and-go—and I just slap it on and it’s cute and I look like a little ‘Pulp Fiction’ girl."
