Disney Will Disperse Beignet Smells into the Line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The ride, which was formerly Splash Mountain, is officially set to open at Disney World in Florida on June 28
Disney has thought of everything for the new Princess and the Frog ride.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is officially set to open on Friday, June 28 at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, will take riders on a New Orleans journey, even down to the scent of beignets, a representative for Disney confirmed to PEOPLE.
Guests will get a whiff of the fried dough treats while standing in line for the attraction.
Disney's purposeful use of smells is nothing new. Smellitzers, the term for Disney's scent dispensers, are strategically placed on streets and rides in the park, according to Business Insider. The Haunted Mansion ride has an intentional dusty smell from hidden vents in the attraction.
The scent of beignets (a New Orleans staple) are not the only Louisiana references incorporated into the ride, of course.
“You’ll join Princess Tiana on an adventure through the bayou as she prepares to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome,” Vice President at Magic Kingdom Park Sarah Riles said of the new ride.

Princess Tiana will be front and center but the ride features other notable characters from The Princess and the Frog like Prince Naveen and the jazz-loving alligator Louis. The newly re-themed ride, which was formerly Splash Mountain, will have the ride's iconic 50-foot drop and “original music and some familiar tunes from the beloved movie.”
Guests at Disney World's Magic Kingdom will be able to enjoy the ride in June — but it won’t open at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. until later in 2024.
